HUNTSVILLE – The transition from indoor to outdoor track and field has been a seamless one so far for James Clemens High School.

Not just for the girls, who finished second behind Hoover at the Class 7A state championships last month, but also for the boys.

Both teams placed first at the Huntsville Panther Invitational March 12 at Milton Frank Stadium, a sweep that saw both teams remain perfect on the season. The Jets have entered three meets and swept all of them entering Saturday’s event hosted by the Jets.

After the James Clemens Invitational, where 20 teams are expected, the jets will compete in a field of 100 schools from around the south in the Florida State Invitational March 25-26. The Jets have 44 boys and girls who qualified for the strong field that will feature 100 teams from the south.

The girls won the Panther Invitational with 144 points, followed by Huntsville (88) and Brooks (65).

The Jets got first-place finishes from the 4×100- and 4×800-meter relay teams, Shatae Ligon in the 100 hurdles (15.64), Jennifer Reis in the pole vault (11-00, school and meet records) and Kayla Williams in the triple jump (38-04, season best).

Zuri Faulkner set a school record in the shot put (37-05) and placed third.

The boys won with 120 points, followed by Scottsboro (85) and Bob Jones (83).

Finishing first for the Jets were the 4×4 and 4×1 teams, Aaron Anderson in the 400 (51.26) and Eric Bradshaw in the long jump (20-02.25).
