MADISON- One of the top soccer players at Bob Jones will continue her career at UA Huntsville.

Katie Bell will use an academic scholarship she earned to attend UAH and play on the soccer team. She made the announcement at a gathering of family and teammates on April 29.

Bell was a captain on the Bob Jones team this season. She scored 10 goals to help the Patriots win Class 7A, Area 8.

Bell scored a goal against Gadsden City in the playoff game but it wasn’t enough as Bob Jones lost on PK’s after the teams tied in regulation. As a junior she played on the Bob Jones team that made it to the AHSAA Soccer Championships at John Hunt Park.

In the classroom she maintains a 3.7 GPA and has a 29 on the ACT. She is a member of the National English Honor Society. She plans on studying Mechanical Engineering at UAH.

On the soccer field she was named offensive MVP her sophomore year and was awarded the Patriot Award her junior year.

Bob Jones soccer coach Toy Schroeder explained what makes Bell stand out.

“Katie has been one of the more influential persons in out program and helped make it successful. She is always willing to work hard and learn new things. She will be missed next year but I know she will be successful at UAH because this is what she has always wanted and worked for.”
