Garland Eugene Wharton November 23, 1943 –August 8, 2016

Garland Wharton of Madison, AL gained his heavenly body on August 8, 2016. Mr. Wharton was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Rosie, a brother, Aubrey and a sister, Christine. He is survived by his wife, Connie, his three daughters, Rhonda Norwood (Mike), Tammy Mitchell (David), and Amanda Hoot (Jason). He has five grandsons; Michael Norwood (Leigha), Payton Mitchell, Jordan Hoot, Ethan Hoot, and Dawson Hoot, one granddaughter, Tiffany Bong. He was blessed with 3 great-grandchildren, Caleigh, Landon, and Khloe Norwood. He is also survived by two brothers, Lonzo and GJ Wharton, Prospect, TN, one sister, Helen Simmons, Baileyton, AL, and a sister-in-law, Lucy Lynn (Tony), Ft. Valley, GA. He leaves behind his best four-legged friend, Toby Lynn.
Garland built Monrovia Body Shop and Wrecker Service from the bottom up. He loved to bass fish. He was a humble, kind, and loving man. He never judged and always had a joke to tell. You never walked away from him without having a smile on your face.
He loved his family and loved to help the community. He always had something to give even if it was the shirt off his back.
Visitation for Mr. Wharton was held Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 6:00-9:00 and service was held on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 11:00 at Spry Funeral Home. His final resting place is at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
