Hogan Family YMCA hosts veterans breakfast

MADISON – Patriotic music will lift spirits as YMCA employees lift up local military personnel in gratitude at the 11th annual Veterans Prayer Breakfast.
Hogan Family YMCA at 130 Park Square Lane in Madison will host the breakfast on Nov. 4. Doors will open at 6:45 a.m. for check-in and a coffee social. The program will start at 7:30 a.m.
Maj. Gen. James E. Simpson, Commanding General of the Army Contracting Command, will give the keynote address. The Army Materiel Command “Arsenal Brass” and the Fahrenheits of Huntsville Fire & Rescue Department will entertain.
Max Bennett, Chairman of the 2016 Huntsville/Madison County Veterans Week, will emcee. Sharon Cunningham, Associate Pastor at Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church, and Chaplain (LTC) Paul Ramsey will lead prayers.
The breakfast’s theme is “Courage, Sacrifice and Duty, Honoring our Military Veterans.”
“The purpose of the YMCA Veterans Prayer Breakfast is to let our military heroes, both those who have served previously and those currently serving, know that they are cherished and valued in our community,” retired Brig. Gen. Bob Drolet said. Drolet is chairing of the breakfast.
Tickets will be available online through Nov. 1. Visit ymcahuntsville.org/VETERANS or email events@ymcahuntsville.org. In addition, individuals can call 256-428-9622, ext. 3008.
Tickets are $20, and reserved sponsor tables are $300. Table sponsors are encouraged to make seats available so veterans may enjoy the meal with them. Veterans can contact the YMCA to request a free ticket while these last.
Veterans Week recognition at the YMCA includes free admission for all veterans with valid military identification and their families on Nov. 4-13 at all YMCA branches: Downtown Express YMCA and Southeast Family YMCA in Huntsville and Hogan Family YMCA in Madison.
In its ongoing commitment to support the total family, Heart of the Valley YMCA offers free membership to soldiers before and after deployment and to their families during deployment. Families of deployed military can request free summer camp and respite child care.
In 2015, Heart of the Valley YMCA provided $192,402 in membership and programs to military families. For more information, visit ymcahuntsville.org.
