MADISON – Inside-Out Ministries of Madison is one of six local nonprofit organizations to receive a grant from the Crestwood Women & Families Fund in 2016.
Crestwood Medical Center and the Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County recently announced the grant recipients. The grants are targeted to address issues and meet immediate needs of women and families in the Huntsville community.
Founded by Larry and Deborah Ward, Inside-out Ministries provides short-term emergency assistance in the form of food, rent assistance or utilities payment for single women, single mothers and their families and others in the City of Madison. (inside-outministries.org)
Inside-Out’s objective is to have a positive, significant, lasting impact on the community by helping those in need to attain self-sufficiency and coach them in making prudent decisions for themselves and their families, thereby increasing their standard of living, Larry Ward said.
The following organizations also received a grant from the Crestwood Women & Families Fund to support their programs:
* Care Assurance System for the Aging & Homebound (CASA) of Madison County — Vision services to answer unmet needs of at-risk senior women.
* Hospice of Marshall County — Camp Hope offers grief counseling for children and families in Northeast Alabama, including Madison County.
* Huntsville Assistance Program — Emergency assistance as food, rent or utilities for Huntsville families who are in need but not homeless.
* New Hope Children’s Clinic — Vaccine program for children in southeast Madison County.
* Trinity Place — Daycare for adults with dementia, including activities for fine motor and large motor skills and music therapy.
The mission of the Crestwood Women & Families Fund is to establish a grant-making fund for high-impact grants to address the issues and meet immediate needs of women and families in the community. The Community Foundation manages the fund.
Crestwood employees, volunteers and individuals contributed approximately $20,000 to replenish the fund before 2016 distributions. Local not-for-profit organizations who serve women and families were invited to apply for grant funding by following a formal process.
