MADISON – Workers for both the City of Madison and crews with Madison Utilities are busy with road projects.
Madison Utilities will be replacing the wastewater main and manholes on Madison Point Place. The work started on Nov. 28.
The street will be closed to through traffic until the work is completed, which is scheduled for Dec. 9. Madison Point Place is just west of Sullivan Street on the north side of Mill Road. The utilities department urges motorists to use caution while in the area.
“Madison Utilities thanks you for your patience as we complete necessary system improvements,” Mark Bland said. Bland works as Wastewater Manager of Madison Utilities.
Madison Utilities’ address is 101 Ray Sanderson Drive. For more information, call 256-772-7501.
In other road improvements, crews are repaving Burgreen Road, which is west of County Line Road in Limestone County. Weather permitting; crews were scheduled to begin repaving between Huntsville-Brownsferry Road and Baker’s Farm Way on Nov. 28.
Work will be performed on Burgreen Road between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. City officials expect the project to be completed by close of business on Dec. 2, if weather delays are not a factor.
The vicinity along Burgreen Road will be closed to through traffic. The city requests motorists to consider using alternate routes and to observe all work zones signs and exercise caution.
For questions and more information, contact Monique Johnson at 256-774-4401 or email Monique.Johnson@Madisonal.gov.
On Hughes Road, the right lane of the Hughes Road Overpass traveling southbound has been closed to traffic. City officials have been closely monitoring this overpass due to shifting of the earth, which has caused cracks in the pavement and creating potentially unsafe conditions.
This precautionary measure by the city will confirm safety of residents. For more information, call City of Madison Engineering Department at 256-772-8431 or email jenny.spain@madisonal.gov.
On County Line Road, improvements continue from Madison Boulevard to the south to northern extent of the city limits. This area is an active construction zone. Within the construction zone, the speed limit has been reduced to 40 mph and will include doubled fines when workers are present.
The work on County Line Road is a joint project between the City of Madison and the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT).
