MADISON – Soccer is Elijah Stevens’ top choice in sports, not only for the game itself but also for its benefit in other sports.
“Soccer helps to better my footwork and skills so that I can go on to play tackle football well,” Elijah said.
On his Upward Flag Football team, Elijah handled the jobs of running back, linebacker and center. With AYSO soccer, he played both defender and goalie.
Elijah is a third-grader at Creekside Elementary School. “I’ve been involved in running club and the gifted program through school. I’m very active at my church,” he said.
His mother, Katrina, works as a registered nurse at Huntsville Hospital. “My dad Jeff is a civil servant with the Department of the Army on Redstone Arsenal,” Elijah said. “My parents bought about 25 acres off of County Line Road when it was still mostly farmland to be able to enjoy ‘country living’ and a (really) big backyard.”
Elijah’s sister Hannah is in fifth grade, also at Creekside. His brother Josiah is in pre-kindergarten at Asbury Weekday.
