Kenneth Howard Crane March 10, 1942 – November 25, 2016

Kenneth Howard Crane, 74, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Friday, November 25, 2016, in Madison, Alabama. He was born March 10, 1942 to Howard and Jewell (Goggans) Crane in Longview, Mississippi. On January 28, 1965, he married the love of his life, Eleanor Stoddard, in Bellefontaine, Mississippi.

Ken is survived by his wife Eleanor Crane of 51 years; his daughters Rhonda Daniel (Leslie) and Pamela Rigsby (Phillip); grandchildren James (Elizabeth) and Nathan Daniel, Preston and Parker Rigsby; and many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Dwight Crane; and sisters June (Michael) Robertson and Jacque McNair.

Ken loved his wife and family, his work, and serving the Lord. His goal in life was to glorify God in all that he said and did. He devoted most of his life to sharing the gospel with everyone he encountered. He served as a youth minister, Deacon, and Sunday school teacher for over 50 years.

He also loved the community in which he lived. He loved to take visitors around the city and share with them unique stories and the history of the area. He served on numerous civic committees such as the committee to establish the flood plain plan, chaired Huntsville City Schools Superintendent search that hired Mary Jane Caylor, and the Huntsville City Zoning Board.

The celebration services for a life well lived will be held at Sherwood Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 with visitation from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. followed by the service at 2:00. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sherwood Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (ESV)
