MADISON – Madison Police Department warns citizens about scam telephone calls from an individual pretending to be a law enforcement officer.

On Dec. 21, Madison police Department received information about attempts at this common type of phone scam. A resident reported receiving a voice message from a male caller claiming to be “Officer Steve Lyles” with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

The caller claimed there was an “urgent matter pertaining to an arrest warrant” and asked for a return phone call.
