Cinderella arrives this weekend

MADISON- Prepare to be enchanted as Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Tony Award winning musical Cinderella comes to the Von Braun Center Concert Hall this weekend. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 8 pm matinee shows Saturday 2 pm and Sunday 1 pm and Sunday at 6:30.

It is the inspiring rags to riches story of the meek, shy house servant Cinderella. Exquisite sets and costumes will transport you back in time hundreds of years when chivalry still reigned.

Follow the music and dance at the village square, ball, in the carriage, and at the castle.

“This is a contemporary Cinderella told in a fairy tale setting,” said Andrew Willmon, Artistic Director for the BTL. “This is not the Disney production. In this musical the main character stands up for herself and fights for what she wants so Cinderella is a strong character. It has great pageantry with big beautiful sets and costumes so visually it is everything you expect from a Cinderella.

The music has not changed since the original production with Julie Andrews. It has very beautiful and melodic music people will be familiar with. It is equal parts of song and dialog. It is not as physically active as 42nd St but it has big production numbers.”

The show also features a bit of theatrical magic with the transformation of the main character.

Like all BTL productions the actors, singers, and dancers are professionals and go through rigorous tryouts to make the traveling production group.

“We are very excited to be bringing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella to Huntsville and so far we have received a great response from both our season ticket holders and single ticket buyers. The Cinderella story is timeless and is something people identify with,” said Wil Elrick Marketing Director for BTL

Elrick wanted to especially invite students who may be considering a career in fine arts like drama, dance, music, or theater.

“We have special prices on student tickets. And the show’s policy is everyone, even lap babies, require a ticket.”

There is a huge presale of seats but tickets do remain.
