Sandy Weisner works in hi-tech, promotes the arts

MADISON – When Sandy Weisner thinks about Madison, she has one mental image.

“The image that comes to mind is simply ‘home.’ Madison provides that feeling of warm summer days, lightening bugs in the air, frogs and crickets singing, and family all around,” Weisner said.

She grew up in Somerville. “Back then, Madison was very small, a few businesses surrounded by crop fields and woods. We spent lots of weekends going down to Lady Ann Lake — pulling cattails and playing in the woods, while my parents, sisters and brother fished,” Weisner said

Today, Madison is “on the cutting edge of technology, innovation and strategic growth while at the same time retaining our small-town feel and integrity,” she said. “That’s the best part really: This is a town where we still have the streets closed for the high school’s homecoming and Christmas parades all the while creating innovative technologies that propel us into the future.”

For the past 15 years, Weisner has enjoyed giving back to her community as much as she can. She has volunteered as Sunday school teacher, director of children’s choir and hand chimes and band parent with many roles, along with assisting retreats and other get-togethers for youth.

“My biggest volunteer effort right now is creation of Madison City Community Orchestra, or MCCO. We offer a much needed outlet for those that are experienced players who enjoy playing and wish to foster appreciation for orchestral arts,” Weisner said.

She works for Intuitive Research and Technology and supports the Chief Technology Officer at HQ Army Materiel Command. Weisner also is Chancel Choir Director at Madison United Methodist Church and helps with her husband’s home repair business, AWA Home Repair

She and husband Tony have three children: Blake and wife Jodie “and our beautiful granddaughter Tenley”; son Alex and daughter Alyssa, Sandy said.

“My pets are my babies. I have a mini American Eskimo named Lexi and two cats, Nickel and Sam,” Sandy said.

She holds extensive, varying music interests. “From musicals, classical, big band and opera to pop/rock artists from the 1970/1980s to country legends like George Strait, as well as Chris Stapleton and Leslie Odom Jr. Can’t say I care much for rap,” she said.

The Weisners enjoy Applebee’s and Cracker Barrel but also love the home-cooking, country style of Little Libby’s.
