One of the region’s largest and most anticipated spring events will unfold at the 30th annual Huntsville Botanical Garden’s Spring Plant Sale April 6-9.

Huntsville Botanical Garden and The Garden Guild sponsor the event. This year’s theme is “More than you can imagine.”

April 6, the sale will be open only to members of Huntsville Botanical Garden from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 7-8, the sale is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 9, hours will be from noon to 5 p.m.

Each day at the sale, visitors can enjoy music, refreshments, specialty vendors and entertainment. Visitors can learn gardening tips at no charge from speakers in the garden April 7-8, and free activities to amuse the children will be available April 8, including the popular Learning Barn from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The entertainment schedule includes Dr. Reginald Jackson April 6; Fahrenheit, a band composed of local firefighters, April 7; and Zion Blue Grass District April 8.

“We have a ticketed event in the new Carriage House from 10-11 a.m. April 8. The speaker will be Craig Lettoullier, author of ‘Epic Tomatoes,’” event volunteer Faye Wishik said. People can register by visiting hsvbg.org.

The real celebrities at the event are the lush, healthy plants for sale. Hanging baskets, heirlooms and pass-along varieties, pollinator plants, geraniums and native azaleas will be available. For plantings that will give years of blooms and green foliage, visitors can buy wildflowers, herbs, ferns, roses, house plants, trees and shrubs.

For bedding projects in the garden, a diverse variety of vegetables, annual flowers and perennials will be sold. “We will offer free soil testing. Garden and plant professionals can answer questions,” Wishik said.

Gardeners can bring their own wagons or carts for easy storage while shopping. Volunteers at the garden sale will load plants that visitors buy.

The botanical garden’s address is 4747 Bob Wallace Ave., in Huntsville. For more information, visit hsvbg.org.
