Singer/Songwriters Concert to benefit St. Jude

MADISON – A unique musical venue will entertain the audience while helping St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the 21st annual Singer/Songwriters for St. Jude Concert.

Stem & Stein at 10871 County Line Road, Suite B will host the concert on Sept. 30 at 3 p.m. “Our goal is to surpass 2016’s record of $17,025 and raise $21,000 in honor of our 21st year of supporting St. Jude,” songwriter spokesperson Jim Parker said.

Del McGee founded the benefit concert as “the ultimate St. Jude fundraiser, showcasing the talents of local singer/songwriters from around North Alabama,” Parker said. “What started as a few guys raising $57 in donations has turned in to the one of the Top 20 online fundraisers through St. Jude’s ‘Fundraise Your Way’ platform,” Parker said.

No admission is charged for the event. Seating is limited. “We ask that you donate, purchase food and drinks from our generous hosts at Stem & Stein, and enjoy your favorite singer/songwriters,” Parker said.

One-hundred percent of all guest and sponsor donations go to St. Jude. Volunteers and singers are unpaid, so their time, supplies and use of the venue have been donated.

The entertainment roster is filled with talented singers, many of whom also write songs:

* Set 1, 3 to 5 p.m. — Ron Brown, Tim Cannon, Ben Luthy, Robin Stewart and Ted Whittingon.

* Set 2, 5 to 7 p.m. — Dana Bright, Doug Donley, Cristina Lynn, Russ Holder, Mary Justice Lucas and Earl Watts.

* Set 3, 7 to 9 p.m. — Konner Bendall, Charlton James, Lori Lovelace and Will Stults.

* Set 4, 9 to 11 p.m. — Billy Droze, Del McGee , Drew Richter, Jim Parker and Travis Widner.

In addition, a silent auction will tempt guests with merchandise. “Need to add some sweet vinyl to your collection? Ever wanted to play an African Djembe? Do you want to know what a Djembe is? Then come on out and check out these awesome silent auction items,” Parker said.
