SkyMiles app rewards, informs Jets population

MADISON – Proving its inclination for tech savvy innovation, the student and faculty population at James Clemens High School are applying a new app that rewards responsible behavior.

Hundreds of students are using the JC SkyMiles Rewards app, a free download for an iPhone. The new app allows an individual to record when they attend a school function and receive points that lead to rewards, usually involving food or clothing purchases.

Rocky Smith, James Clemens Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, coordinated the launch for the commercial app (students did not design the app).

“JC SkyMiles Rewards app is a reward app based on the ability of the app to locate whether or not a student attended an event. This app also rewards the student for attending events,” James Clemens Principal Dr. Brian Clayton said.

“Students are very fond of JC SkyMiles Rewards app. We are about to have one of our first reward lunches on The Patio,” Clayton said.

In an indirect benefit, students and teachers can support the activities of their peers — while earning free points. Teachers can advertise academic meetings and paperwork deadlines, while students can promote can club meetings and performances by band, chorus and theatre groups.

As James Clemens student Kiana Bohanan pointed out to WHNT-TV, the app provides several options to receive a reward for actions that students and teachers already practice in their weekly routines.

James Clemens students are using their rewards to redeem discounts for food purchases and for articles of clothing. The app also allows a person to upload scores and photographs from sporting events or other school activity, like the Jets Marching Band’s shows or a Jets Chorus performance.

To download JC SkyMiles Rewards app, visit the APP store on an iPhone.
