Soccer’s pace appeals to Alex Crouse

MADISON – Alex Crouse has been playing soccer for three years with American Youth Soccer Organization.

“Soccer is my favorite sport,” Alex said. “My dad is the coach. I love to score, but I especially like defense.”

“Soccer is the best! I like to run, score goals and play keeper when I practice with my brother Ben. He plays for AYSO United,” Alex said.

A second-grader, Alex is in Cheryl Bailey’s room at West Madison Elementary School. “Mrs. Bailey is awesome! Math is my favorite subject,” he said. He also has been studying piano for three years with Marianna McCoy.

Alex’s sister Anna is a sophomore at Bob Jones High School. Brother Ben also attends West Madison, and he is in sixth grade.

“My dad Andy works at HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, and my mom Leigh works at Madison Hospital,” Alex said. “My parents and sister moved here 12 years ago from Birmingham when my dad started working at a biotech company.”

Q: What are your favorite restaurants in Madison?

A: “I Love Sushi is my favorite. I also like Sam and Greg’s Pizzeria,” Alex said.

Q: What’s your favorite food?

A: Sushi.

Q: What are your favorite sports teams?

A: Auburn University Tigers and Bob Jones Patriots.

Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?

A: “I placed second in my age group when I ran my first 5K last spring in the Double Helix 5K race at HudsonAlpha,” Alex said.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: “I like to fish, ride bikes, practice soccer with my brother, play piano, play video games and swim,” Alex said.
