Easter ‘Eggstravaganza,’ Kite Festival to brighten Dublin Park

MADISON – To herald springtime and the joyous season, the Madison Easter ‘Eggstravaganza’ and Kite Festival will return to Dublin Park.

The spectacular, celebratory event is scheduled for March 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event presenters are RUFF or Ready Yourself for the Future (Facebook/R.U.F.F., along with Dublin Park.

“Join the City of Madison, Rocket City Martial Arts, RUFF and the Easter Bunny for a day filled with fun,” City Event and Volunteer Coordinator Gayle Milam said. “We’ll have children’s activities, egg hunts, Dr. Osborn’s Balloon and Magic Show, face painting, kite demonstrations by Chicago Kite and much more.”

In years past, a helicopter has dropped several thousand Easter eggs for youngsters to hunt.

The egg hunt for babies to five-year-olds will start at 10 a.m. on Dublin’s Soccer Field 1. Children from six to 10 years old will start egg hunting at 11:30 a.m. on Soccer Field 1. Visitors can enjoy the inflatable amusements from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Soccer Field 2.

Food vendors will offer carnival-type concessions. Local entertainers will perform for the crowd.

Parking at Dublin Park will be limited only to handicap parking. Other visitors will park at Bob Jones High School in the south parking lot. The city will provide shuttle service at no charge. Shuttle service will begin at 9 a.m.

“I’m super excited to announce that Jamie Guffey from Vegas Entertainment will bring out his photo booth to the festival,” RUFF founder and sponsor Anthony Graham said. “You can have free photos with your friends and family members. So much going on this day at Dublin Park.”

Founded in 2010, Huntsville Community Drumline will rock the crowd at 1 p.m. This non-profit organization offers an extracurricular option for youth for a positive, community-based activity and outlet to learn a craft. (huntsvillecommunitydrumline.com)

“We are looking forward to having Chicago Kite as part of our event,” Graham said. “Chicago Kite will give the first 250 kids a kite kit for free.”
