Madison City Community Orchestra sets Spring Concert at Madison UMC
MADISON – Madison City Community Orchestra will present its Spring Concert on May 11 at Madison United Methodist Church at 127 Church St. in downtown Madison.
The MCCO Spring Concert will start at 7 p.m. MCCO Director Sandy Weisner said the program includes the first, second and fourth movements from “Dvorak’s Symphony, No. 9 in E minor,” “From the New World”, Op. 95, B. 178 or more commonly known as “The New World Symphony.”
“It is believed to be Dvorak’s most popular works. Neil Armstrong took a recording of ‘New World Symphony’ to the moon during the Apollo 11 mission, the first moon landing, in 1969,” Weisner said.
MCCO, a 501(C)3 organization, accepts new players with four years of experience. The orchestra currently needs players for all string parts and percussion.
