Jordan Matthews Back Home With Eagles

PHILADELPHIA, PA.- Jordan Matthews, a second-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2014 NFL Draft, is back in the City of Brotherly Love by way of signing with his former team to help the defending Super Bowl Champions deal with recent injuries at the wide receiver position.

Matthews, who played at Madison Academy, played three seasons with the Eagles coming out of Vanderbilt University and averaged 75 catches, nearly 900 yards and six TDs in his stay with the Eagles. He was traded to the Buffalo Bills prior to the start of the 2017 season and was sent to the New England Patriots after the 2017 campaign only to be released by the Patriots just before the start of the 2018 season after suffering a hamstring injury.

The Eagles are facing a lack of depth at the wide receiver position with three members of the team’s receiving corps on the sideline due to injuries. Matthews has also had his share of injuries since joining the NFL, but has undergone extensive rehabilitation for his latest hamstring injury and looks to be in good physical condition arriving in Philadelphia.

With his experience with the team and in the NFL, the 6-foot-3, 26-year old should be able to walk into his new position rather quickly as he frequently teamed up with Eagles’ starting quarterback Carson Wentz prior to be traded after completing season three with the Eagles.
