M.A.’s Grant Reynolds Resigns-Takes Position In Chattanooga

MADISON- Waiting until one day after two of his players signed scholarships on National Signing Day, Madison Academy head football coach Grant Reynolds met with his team and announced his resignation to take a similar position at East Hamilton High in Ooltwah, Tenn., a suburb of Chattanooga.

The move for Reynolds and his family is sort of back home as he coached at Chattanooga’s Boyd-Buchanan High School for 20 years, 10 of which as head coach. His wife, Cindy, has family members living in the immediate area and has some health issues, so the move back to the River City was not something that happened over night.

The East Hamilton Hurricanes position came open after Ted Gatewood stepped down last December after a 10-year stint with the black and green Hurricanes. According to an interview with the Chattanooga Times Free Press, East Hamilton principal Brent Eller said, “When we were faced with the task of having to fill our head football coaching vacancy we set out to find the coach and not just a coach. Throughout the process, Coach Reynolds’ name continued to surface as possibly being that guy.”

“I am very thankful for my time at Madison Academy and appreciated the opportunity to work for one of the best programs in the state,” said Reynolds. “Chattanooga is home for us and this opportunity allows me to be closer to immediate family.”

An official search for the new Madison Academy head football coach will begin immediately led by Athletic Director Mark Mincher.
