Patriots complete sweep over Florence

FLORENCE – The Patriots continued their dominance in 7A baseball last night in a double-header with Area 8 foe Florence, winning both games 11-1.

In the first game, Bob Jones got their offense started strong in the second inning when Colten Carver singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. The Patriots then tallied three runs in the fifth inning with an RBI double by Slate Alford.

Austin East got the win for Bob Jones as he allowed eight hits and one run over six innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Bob Jones launched one home run on the day as Mitchell Daly crushed a long ball into the wind in the third inning.

The Patriots racked up 11 hits on the day with Daly and John Michael Riley collecting multiple hits.
Daly went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, double, single, two RBIs, three runs, and two stolen bases. Riley had a double, single, RBI, and a run. Six other Patriots added hits with Alford hitting a double and Stuart Edge, Carver, Dylan Ray, Caden Rose, and Tyler Jones all adding singles.

In the second game, Bob Jones knocked in seven runs in the second on its way to an 11-1 victory over Florence to pull off the three-game sweep.

The Patriots got on the board in the first inning when Ray drove in one when he doubled.
Bob Jones’ big inning was driven by doubles by Carver and Riley, a single by Ray, and a groundout by Brosnan to all score runs.

Ray was the winning pitcher as he pitched a five-inning complete game, allowing one hit and one unearned run while striking out nine and walking one.

The Patriots launched one home run on the day as Cam Hill had a long ball in the fourth inning.
Bob Jones collected ten hits on the day. Ray, Carver, and Riley all managed multiple hits. Ray went 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs. Carver finished with three RBIs on two doubles. Riley had two RBIs and two runs on a double and a single. Slate Alford and Tyler Jones pitched in singles.

Patriots return to play on Saturday at 9:00am at home versus Grissom. Area play resumes on Tuesday at home against rival James Clemens at 5:30pm.
