DECATUR – A Madison man was shot in Decatur early Tuesday morning.

Decatur police responded at about 12:31 a.m. to a shooting, according to a release. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound, who was transported to the hospital and received medical attention.

Police identified the victim as Malachi Thomas McCray, age 18. His condition is not available at this time.

Decatur police are still investigating and said no arrests have been made as of this afternoon.

“At this time, the victim is still receiving medical attention,” police spokeswoman Emily Long said in a statement this afternoon.

Detectives have identified all parties involved in the incident, and there is no risk to the public, police said in the earlier release. The case will be forwarded to the grand jury for future consideration.

Further updates will be made as more information is made available.
