Madison City Schools receive all A’s on Alabama Report Card
MADISON – “I am fired up today!!!!” said Madison City Superintendent Robby Parker. And he has good reason to be. Madison City Schools received validation again today that the school district is doing things right.
Schools and school districts throughout the state received their letter grade through the Alabama Schools Record Card for 2018-19. Madison City Schools received an overall “A” as a school district for the third year in a row.
“Every single one of our schools also received an “A” for the third consecutive year,” Parker said. “Only eight of the 137 Alabama school districts got an A at every school, so our straight-A outcome is quite an accomplishment.”
The State Report Card is the culmination of huge amounts of data delivered through school system portals and various other means of data sharing. Everything from individual school academic performance and student demographic profiles, to college and career readiness and educator credential/demographics are compiled in an easily viewable format on the Alabama State Department of Education website.
This is the third academic year that the letter grades have been released.
“I am so proud of our kids, teachers and staff,” Parker said. “I admit that I am biased, but data continues to show that our kids rank among the best in the state and nationally.”
The grades released today by the Alabama State Department of Education gave the Madison City Schools an overall numerical score of 96. Last year the district received a 92.
All of the 11 schools within the district received an A, ranging from 94 to 99. Mill Creek and Heritage elementary schools received the highest scores within the district.
“The fact that all of our schools are so close in score highlights a very important point on rezoning – that no matter where a child lives in Madison, he or she will be zoned to a quality school,” Parker said. “Keeping schools socio-economically balanced has been one of the cornerstones to our success.”

* Heritage Elementary, 99.
* Horizon Elementary, 97.
* Madison Elementary, 96.
* Mill Creek Elementary, 99.
* Rainbow Elementary, 98.
* West Madison Elementary, 98.
* Discovery Middle, 96.
* Liberty Middle, 94.
* Bob Jones High School, 95.
* James Clemens High School, 94.
“We welcome assessments any day. But the most accurate measure of our effectiveness is how well we are preparing our kids for their future,” Parker added. “I am in classrooms every week and see the great things that are happening in each of our schools. So we celebrate this with a commitment that we will never become complacent where we are. We will constantly seek ways to improve.”
