New Life Chapel in Madison selling Christmas trees this year at MidCity to help children

MADISON – Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, this is the time most families turn to Christmas and finding that perfect Christmas tree for your home. New Life Chapel in Madison is making a way for you to fulfill this long-time Christmas tradition while helping children at the same time.

People can purchase a beautiful, fresh Fraser Fir at The Camp at MidCity, in front of Top Golf, and all of the proceeds will go to help children in some of the most challenging places on the planet and right here in the local community.

“Last year we were able to raise $15,000 to help children all over the world, as well as here in Madison,” said Janah Williams, wife of New Life Chapel’s lead pastor Mike Williams. “All of the proceeds are donated to help children. We donated 80% of our profits to an organization called People for Care and Learning that builds schools all over the world in impoverished countries.  The rest is donated to local schools here in Madison.”

Last year, the church was able to use the profits to help students in Rainbow Elementary, Columbia Elementary, and Discovery Middle school.

The money that is sent to People for Care and Learning and Serving Orphans Worldwide provides education, care, mentoring, food, and housing.

“We support children’s homes, learning centers, schools, families, and feeding programs across the world and right in our own community,” said Pastor Williams. “We want to inspire hope and empower potential in the next generation.”

ABOUT BUY A TREE. CHANGE A LIFE.

In 2012, a family in Homestead, FL was adopting a child from Ethiopia. $25,000 was needed for the adoption. The church they attended decided to sell Christmas trees to raise the money. Over 450 Christmas trees were sold and $25,000 was raised.

Due to the success of Buy A Tree. Change A Life., a non-profit organization called ForHope.us was founded in 2012. Last year, forty-four churches rallied their communities, government officials, sponsors and local businesses around this project and gave away $621,401 to help children.

“Almost two million dollars has been raised since the first year of the project,” Pastor Williams said. “For the 2019 project year we are in a record-breaking 17 states across the country.”

For more information about the project visit www.buyatreechangealife.com or www.facebook.com/buyatreechangealifemadison. If you or your business would like to join the movement and sponsor the local event, please contact Michael Williams at (256)221-7266 or Mgwilliams77@mac.com.
