Madison County adds two COVID-19 cases, Limestone loses two

MADISON – The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) showed that Madison County increased by two coronavirus cases since this morning while Limestone decreased by two cases.

We are not sure at this time whether the new cases in Madison County are actual increases or connected to the reduction of cases in Limestone. There were some inadequate data reporting to the ADPH late last week and the agency has worked over the past few days straightening it out.

The ADPH is showing Madison County with 205 cases of COVID-19 and Limestone with 38. Those numbers do not represent current active cases, but people who have tested positive since reporting began last month.

There have been four deaths associated with COVID-19 in Madison County and none for Limestone.

Fortunately, the rate of new cases has drastically slowed down over the past week and continues its downward slide.

There are a total of 5,589 cases of COVID-19 in Alabama. There have been 196 deaths reported with 178 of those confirmed by the ADPH. The department also reports 731 total hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since March 13.

There are currently 842,319 cases of COVID-19 nationwide, with 46,399 deaths and 77,018 recovered, according to Johns Hopkins University.
