New cases of COVID-19 still increasing in Madison County

MADISON – The number of new COVID-19 cases continues to increase in Madison County, just at a slower pace. The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) shows that 234 people in the county have tested positive since reporting began in March. That is 18 new cases in nearly a week. Limestone has 45, which has only increased by two since last week.

There have been four deaths associated with COVID-19 in Madison County and none for Limestone.

There are a total of 7,888 cases of COVID-19 in Alabama. There have been 290 deaths due to the illness. The department also reports 1,043 total hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since March 13.

There are currently 1,158,341 cases of COVID-19 nationwide, with 67,686 deaths and 180,152 recovered, according to Johns Hopkins University.
