Trash Pandas to host “The Great Community Poultry Sale”

MADISON – Cool events are not the only thing the Trash Pandas are bringing to Toyota Field this June. They also plan to bring 14 tons of chicken to the new stadium at Town Madison.

Josh Caray, the Trash Panda spokesperson, said Monday they plan to host “The Great Rocket City Trash Pandas Community Poultry Sale” over the next few days.

He said the sale features bulk chicken on sale at extremely low prices. Fresh leg quarters are on-sale for $23 per 40-pound case, equating to 58-cents per pound. Frozen boneless skinless breasts are available for $53 per 40-pound case, rounding out to $1.33 per pound.

Registration to order is open at TrashPandasBaseball.com/Events and the deadline to purchase is Friday June 19 at 5 p.m. Orders will be available for pick-up at Toyota Field on Saturday June 27 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

“We certainly knew we were in the community business, but never thought that meant being in the chicken business,” explained Trash Pandas President & CEO Ralph Nelson. “The Great Rocket City Trash Pandas Community Poultry Sale is an opportunity for the community to come together and take advantage of a tremendous opportunity to provide affordable food for their families, neighbors, and community members in need as well.”

Purchasers will also have the opportunity to make donations to Food Bank of North Alabama, who is partnering with the Trash Pandas on the event. Additional details, including a Frequently Asked Questions page is available at TrashPandasBaseball.com/Events.

The organization has teamed up with Mountaire Farms for the sale. Mountaire Farms is a private-label poultry company which provides high-quality chicken to supermarkets, grocery chains, and restaurants across the country.

The community must purchase 700 total combined cases in order for sales to finalize.

The Rocket City Trash Pandas are the Double-A Affiliate of MLB’s Los Angeles Angels. The Trash Pandas play games, and host events, at state-of-the-art Toyota Field in Madison and are members of the Southern League.
