County and city to celebrate new drivers license office in Madison

MADISON – If you have ever hated waiting in line at the ALEA Driver License office in Huntsville, there is a small glimmer of hope. Madison now has it’s own driver license office.

Madison County Commissioner Steve Haraway, along with Mayor Paul Finley, will formally cut the ribbon on the addition of the new ALEA Driver License Division office located at the Madison County Service Center in Madison. This will serve as another state office available for residents to use for driver’s license service, license testing and driver’s road testing.

The ribbon cutting will take place at the Madison County Service Center, 100 Plaza Blvd, at 10 a.m. Aug. 18.

“We are excited to be working with ALEA to add this additional location for drivers license testing to the Madison County area. This project is a great example of how the State, City, and County can work together to create easier access to community essential services,” said Commissioner Haraway.
“Opening this service in Madison City helps residents from surrounding areas utilize services, while also taking some burden off other area drivers licensing departments – a regional win!” Madison City Council President Steve Smith said.
The Madison County Service Center already houses several other offices, including Drivers License renewal, Vehicle Tag/Registration, Tax Assessor, Tax Collector and Commissioner Steve Haraway’s office. The new ALEA office will give residents another option for driver’s license services.

“Cutting the ribbon on the new ALEA office is another step towards our goal of making the quality of life in Madison great. Accessibility to services such as a drivers license division provides a regional benefit to our area,” said Mayor Paul Finley.
