BCBS of Alabama awards Horizon $9,000 grant to promote better health

MADISON – Horizon Elementary School was awarded a $9,000 grant Thursday from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama in an initiative to promote better health among students.
“In our commitment to help prevent childhood obesity, BCBC of Alabama’s Be Healthy School Grant Program is awarding $266,500 in grants to 27 schools statewide benefitting 10,967 students in grades K-6 for the 2020-2021 school year,” said BCBS in a statement.
Horizon is the only school in Madison County to receive the award. The school will use the money to build a rock climbing wall that will expand its offerings for physical activity.
