Two-Sport Star Athlete Avery Seaton Signs With Alabama A&M

MADISON- Avery Seaton followed through on his verbal commitment on wanting to sign with the Alabama A&M Bulldogs. The senior at Madison Academy put his signature to an athletic scholarship in a recent ceremony before friends and family at Madison Academy.

“I always wanted to attend Alabama A&M and when they said I could play both football and baseball I easily chose the school to continue my education,” said Seaton.

The 5-foot-10, 200-pound Seaton was an honorable mention All-State selection at quarterback in Class 4A leading the Mustangs football team to a post-season playoff game after Madison Academy posted an undefeated regular season. Seaton passed for over 1,400 yards with 34 touchdowns and rushed for another 996 yards and 10 TDs during the 2020 campaign. In his three years as quarterback he amassed almost 7,000 yards of offense accounting for 84 touchdowns.

On the baseball diamond for the Mustangs, where he is an outfielder/pitcher, Seaton is about to open his senior season after playing in 90 games with a .317 batting average with 58 RBIs and 10 stolen bases in his career at M.A. In last year’s COVID shortened season, he was 1-0 in the mound with 13 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched.

Seaton said he was recruited as a QB-RB-WR for the football team and outfielder-pitcher for the baseball team and playing college baseball was always his dream. One of his coaches within the Madison Academy football program nicknamed him “Steamboat” for his ability to run over would-be tacklers.

“Alabama A&M opened up their arms for me at the school including both coaches and players,” added Seaton. “The school fits as I enjoy the campus and the environment.”

He looks to pursue a degree in business administration and will carry a 3.6 grade point average into the classroom this fall at Alabama A&M. He is the son of Arthur and Ashley Seaton. He grew up in the Monrovia area where he played his youth baseball at Philips Park and on several travel teams.
