Filthy Gorgeous’ styles please women of all ages, tastes

MADISON – A new boutique in downtown Madison, Filthy Gorgeous on Main is dedicated to dressing women of all ages in clothing that pleases their specific tastes.

“We are always evolving to stay trendy and committed to searching for the highest quality of clothes. We want everyone to leave feeling ‘filthy gorgeous,’” owner Melinda Sanders said.

“Our mission is for the ‘daughter,’ ‘mom’ and ‘grandma’ to come into the store, and each one will find something for herself,” Sanders said.

Sizes range from 0 to 22. “I carry multiple brands that fit a variety of price ranges. I don’t want to determine anyone’s pocketbook. Some ladies could afford a $100 shirt while another lady can buy a $35 shirt,” she said.

“We’re a full boutique and can cover from head to toe,” Sanders said.

For tops, Filthy Gorgeous offers blouses, button-down shirts, sweaters and cardigans, sweatshirts and hoodies, tees, tanks and bralettes. For ‘bottoms,’ choices include denim jeans, pants, leggings and joggers. Shoppers can browse skirts, dresses, sets/jumpsuits, loungewear, handbags, shoes, jewelry and accessories,” Sanders said.

“We are a ‘pack store’ — if I get a shirt in in green, then I won’t get that same green shirt again,” Sanders said.

When a customer arrives, the staff welcomes her with a store description. “We’re at their call but allow customers to browse at their leisure. We want everyone to feel warm and inviting,” Sanders said.

With the pandemic onset, Sanders increased choices in loungewear, as opposed to her first emphasis on business attire. Customers want leggings and lounge items to work from home but look nice enough for errands or a Zoom call.

“Animal print is really huge. We sell a lot of distressed jeans,” she said. “We’ve done well with wedge sneakers. Mask chains are popular.”

Shoppers have ‘schooled’ Sanders about her store’s merchandise. “If you sell pants, you also need to sell belts, a blouse, a purse to match. You also need to be different than other stores.”

Melinda comes from a family of entrepreneurs — husband Patrick Sanders and parents Tony and Cindy Sensenberger. “We’ve been fearless. No waking up in the middle of the night to wonder if I’ve done the right thing.”

“I love the ladies that I have met so far on this journey. I love doing this work,” Melinda said.

Filthy Gorgeous’ address is 14 Main St., Suite F. Store hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Filthy Gorgeous is closed on Sunday and Monday but offers private shopping by appointment on Monday or before/after regular store hours.
