USA Swimming Futures Championships taking place at Huntsville Aquatics Center July 28-31

HUNTSVILLE – The USA Swimming Futures Championships is set to begin tomorrow, July 28, at the Huntsville Aquatics Center and run through Saturday, July 31. The Futures Championship is hosted by Huntsville Swim Association (HSA) with assistance of the Huntsville Sports Commission (HSC), Huntsville-Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Huntsville CVB) and City of Huntsville.

“The Huntsville Aquatics Center includes two Olympic-size pools for competition use, a third pool for warm-ups and the largest spectator seating capacity in the state of Alabama with over 1,400 seats,” said Bernita Reese, Huntsville Parks & Recreation Director. “We look forward to showcasing our world-class aquatics center to USA Swimming and the talented athletes participating in the Futures Championships.”

This event is a big win for Huntsville bringing over 1,000 athletes and coaches from the southern region to the Huntsville Aquatics Center. The USA Swimming Futures Championships has an estimated economic impact of $2.5 million.

“It’s an honor to host the USA Swimming Futures Championships at the Huntsville Aquatics Center. Huntsville is a great city and we hope it encourages other distinguished events to consider Huntsville as its next location.” said Mark Russell, Executive Director of the Huntsville Sports Commission.

Prelims will take place each day between 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. Finals are scheduled from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. each evening. Spectators are allowed to attend and can purchase tickets here. Parking for the event is free.

“This meet is a great chance to showcase the City of Huntsville’s Aquatics Center as well as pit our talented athletes against some of the best swimmers in the country,” said Matt Webb, Huntsville Swim Association (HSA) Head Coach. “It is the great partnership we have between the HSA, HSC, Huntsville Parks and Recreation Department and Huntsville CVB that allows us to bring showcase events like this to our city.”

If you’re unable to attend in person, you can watch the Championships for free on the HSA Live Stream Channel on YouTube. You can find more information regarding the USA Swimming Futures Championships in Huntsville, Alabama here.
