School board approves two new assistant principals for Madison schools

MADISON – The Madison City School Board decided to promote within the school district’s ranks when they approved two new assistant principals Thursday night. Kiley Rikard was promoted to replace Karl Fernandez at Mill Creek Elementary, and Tabitha Odom was promoted to replace Treve Stewart at Liberty Middle School.
Both Fernandez and Stewart were recently promoted to other positions within the district. Fernandez was named principal at Rainbow Elementary, while Stewrt is now the principal of the new Journey Elementary School.
Before becoming a EL teacher at Mill Creek, Rikard taught first, second, third, and fourth grades and served as an academic coach in Georgia. She was selected this week as Teacher of the Year for the Madison City Schools district.
Odom has served as an Engish teacher at Liberty Middle for the past four years, and eight years prior at Oak Mountain Middle in Birmingham. She is a National Board Certified Teacher with additional certifications in school counseling and school leadership.
Odom joins Ryan Foy and Ambra Hamilton as assistant principals under the leadership of Principal Shannon Brown at Liberty.
