Fantasy Playhouse continues ‘A Christmas Carol,’ auditions for ‘Alice’

MADISON – Audiences can enjoy a timeless holiday performance now, while a new cast with Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater and Academy soon will rehearse for the first production in 2022.

“A Christmas Carol” shows will be available on Dec. 10-12. The show is suitable for six-year-olds and older. The Von Braun Center Playhouse at the corner of Clinton and Monroe in downtown Huntsville will serve as the event venue.

Showtimes will be Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.; Dec. 11 at 1 and 6 p.m.; and Dec. 12 at 1 and 6 p.m. Tickets costs $21 for adults or $16 for children who are 18 years old and younger.

In “A Christmas Carol,” businessman Ebenezer Scrooge on Christmas Eve receives a haunting visit from the ghost of his old business partner, Jacob Marley. The classic Dickens tale portrays the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future as Scrooge undertakes a supernatural journey. He learns what truly matters in life.

Season ticket holders will receive a discount for their purchase with Fantasy Playhouse. Groups of 10 or more will earn a group discount.

For the upcoming production of “Alice in Wonderland,” auditions will be held on Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. (doors open at 1:30 p.m.) and on Dec. 13 at 5 and 7 p.m. (with doors open at 4:30 p.m.). Callbacks will follow immediately and will be invitation only.

Fantasy Playhouse staff encourages everyone to practice diversity and inclusion. A judging panel, ignoring race, ethnicity or ability, will consider the person for a role. For questions, email auditions@fantasyplayhouse.com.

This theatrical interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” delivers excitement and bizarre creatures from the original story. Residents of Wonderland assist Alice in ‘taking her turn’ for happiness. However, this version of ‘Alice’ is not as dark and foreboding as the traditional play but has an imaginative, upbeat atmosphere.

Jacinda Swinehart is director for the show. Nici Patton is producer.

The staff will expect actors to be ‘off book’ for the first blocking rehearsal of ‘Alice’ on Jan. 4, 2022.

Show dates for ‘Alice’ will be Feb. 18 at 9 a.m., noon and 7 p.m., along with Feb. 19 and 20 at 1 and 6 p.m. Tickets cost $21 for adults. Youth (3 to 18 years old) tickets are $16.

Fantasy Playhouse’s address is 3312 Long Ave. SW in Huntsville. For information, call 256-539-6829, email info@fantasyplayhouse.com or visit fantasyplayhouse.com.
