Sparkman’s Kennedy Langham Shines For Alabama All-Stars

MOBILE- Sparkman’s All-State basketball player Kennedy Langham had the opportunity to close out her high school years by participating in the annual Alabama-Mississippi Girl’s Basketball Classic held on the campus of the University of South Alabama in Mobile. The super-talented, 5-foot-8 guard had the most playing time among the Alabama squad with over 31 minutes of time on the hardwood against the visiting Mississippi All-Stars, led the team in rebounds with 10 and scored the second most points for Alabama with 14. Her starting guard performance did not disappoint leading Alabama to an 88-74 win. The sixth victory in a row by Alabama improved their record in the series to 19-14.

“I thought I did very well on both offense and defense, though I did not shoot as well as I was hoping, but I did well at the free throw line (9 of 10),” said Langham after the victory. “I took on the job on defense of covering Mississippi’s best player Madison Booker (Texas signee and voted the best player in Mississippi). As for shooting, it was just one of those days that ball didn’t go in, even when I had open shots, but I kept attacking and went to the free throw line a lot.”

Alabama outscored its opponent in every quarter and the game was never in jeopardy for the home squad. The Alabama shooting prowess was a deciding factor in the game hitting 43.5-percent of its three-point attempts, 77.2-percent from the free throw line and 37.7 overall from the field. Langham was one of five Alabama players to hit a three-point shot.

“It was a super fun experience as I got to know everyone on the team,” added Langham, who has signed with Samford to play college basketball.
