USTA Southern Tennis Tournament Features Two Local Players

HUNTSVILLE- Two players with ties to Madison will see action in the USTA Southern Men’s & Women’s $15K Pro Circuit Tournament this week at the Athletic Club of Alabama located on Leeman Ferry Road in Huntsville.

Nicholas Heng from Madison and freshman for the Auburn tennis team and Madison Academy’s Houston Jacques will play in the event that will feature professional men and women who have experience playing in the ATP and WTA Tours. The tournament is also providing community support with events for juniors and adults along with high school, wheelchair tennis and adaptive players. Many of the special events are free.

Heng, who graduated from Alabama Connections Academy, won the USTA National Clay Court Championship in July 2022 after the eight-day event in Delray, Fla. The 5-foot-9 Heng was ranked the No. 1 recruit in Alabama in the class of 2023. He made the Huntsville tourney through a Wild Card Ticket qualifying in the men’s singles main draw.

Jacques, a sophomore at Madison Academy and 2022 AHSAA State Champion in doubles play with his older brother Parker, will play in the exciting event in the Men’s singles qualifying draw.

The multi-day tournament will conclude on Sunday, May 28.
