The Salvation Army needs distribution center in Huntsville area for Angel Tree campaign

HUNTSVILLE – The Salvation Army in Huntsville is gearing up for its annual Angel Tree Christmas Campaign, giving presents, clothing, and food to over 3,500 children and seniors in need for Christmas morning. As Angel Tree continues to grow every year, so does The Salvation Army’s urgent need for a large space to make this program possible. Without adequate space, The Salvation Army fears many in need in our community will go without this Christmas season.

The need is greater this year for families due to the highest inflation in four decades and rising food and fuel costs. Plus, because of the additional expectations and pressures related to the holiday season, many families must choose between toys for their children or paying the energy bill.

A Distribution Center of 15,000 ft. or larger is needed to effectively operate the large influx of toys and gifts as well as efficiently distribute them to Angels and their families. The Distribution Center is needed from Nov. 10 until Dec. 24 in the Huntsville area.

Major Richard Watts, commander of The Salvation Army Huntsville says, “For a program that started back in 1979, it has grown immensely year after year, which in turn means we need a larger space to meet the needs of our Angels and their families. Huntsville/Madison County has always been so great to The Salvation Army, and we want an amazing Christmas season for the community this year.”

If anyone has any information on a Distribution Center in the Huntsville area, please contact The Salvation Army at (256) 542-8039. Also, if you would like to volunteer for bellringing or adopt angels this holiday season, please call (256) 536-5576.
