James Clemens Finish Among Top 5 At Cross Country State Meet- Several Runners Named All-State
OAKVILLE- “The best day ever,” that’s how Drew Bell, head coach of the James Clemens cross country teams, described the results of his squad’s performances in the 68th AHSAA Cross Country Championships held in Oakville.
The Jets finished third in boys and fifth in girls to give the program it’s best overall finish in the annual meet. The individual performances included three from James Clemens to finish among the top 15 and earning All-State honors in boys and two girls from James Clemens to post the same All-State performances.
“Our boys had their highest finish ever in the school’s 12-year history while the girls had their second highest finish in history as Kylie Gero had the highest finish ever by a Lady Jet at the State Meet,” said Bell.

In Class 3A, the Madison Academy boys team qualified for the State Meet and posted 256 points for a 10th place finish behind winner Bayshore Christian with 63 points. Senior Sam Hall earned a spot on the All-State Team after he finished fourth with a time of 16:34.28 over the 5K course.
