Enable Madison County announces needed asset at event

HUNTSVILLE – Supporters of Enable Madison County celebrated its 45th anniversary recently and announced a new asset that will substantially help the organization’s projects.

(Enable Madison County was formerly known as CASA.)

The event, the annual A Night for Enable, was held at the Historic Huntsville Depot Roundhouse on April 11. The event’s live auction sponsored approximately 55 services to provide funding for wheelchair ramps, hearing aids, deliveries, grab bars, handrails and the Enable Garden services.

At the event, Enable Madison County shared news regarding a pivotal milestone in its journey. In late 2023, the organization was faced with the challenge of finding an alternative site to the warehouse, which is crucial for its ramp-building operations.

Enable Madison County successfully navigated the situation with the assistance of Freedom Real Estate, officials said. Through collaborative efforts with the seller and support from more than 20 major donors and numerous community contributions, Enable Madison County finalized the purchase of the warehouse in March 2024.

This acquisition solidifies Enable’s commitment to its Aging in Place Program. In addition, the warehouse can confirm continued support for its clients.

“We are overwhelmed by the tremendous support shown by our community at A Night for Enable,” Ann Anderson said. Anderson is Executive Director of Enable Madison County.

“We are immensely grateful to all our sponsors, donors, volunteers and partners for their unwavering support over the past 45 years, and we’re looking forward to the next 45!” Anderson said.

“Enable Madison County extends its gratitude to the Presenting Sponsor, Landers McLarty Subaru, a Frank Williams Dealership, along with other sponsors, donors, community partners, mentors and volunteers whose contributions made the event possible,” she said.

Enable Madison County, a non-profit agency in Huntsville, provides services to individuals who are 60 years old and older and to the homebound (wheelchair- and bed-bound) of all ages since 1979. Enable Madison County’s mission is to enable the aging and homebound to live at home independently, safely and with dignity.

The “Aging in Place” program is designed to enable the elderly and homebound to remain in their homes by providing volunteer services that specifically address their special physical and emotional needs.

Enable’s projects include the vegetable garden, located west of Bob Wallace Avenue and Jordan Lane’s intersection; building wheelchair ramps; delivering holiday items; home winterizations; and other assistance.

Enable Madison County’s office address is 701 Andrew Jackson Way in Huntsville. For more information, call 256-533-7775, email info@enablemadisoncounty.org or visit enablemadisoncounty.org, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) or Instagram.
