Management institute awards scholarship to Michelle Epling

MADISON – The Southeast Institute for Organization Management has awarded Michelle Epling, President of Madison Chamber of Commerce, with a National Institute Scholarship.

Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, presented the scholarship. Recently, Epling completed her third year at the Institute for Organization Management, a four-year nonprofit program for leadership training at Southeast Institute in Athens, Ga.

The institute’s conference, also in Athens, Ga., is considered “the gold standard for professional education for chamber professionals,” Epling said. “An investment in our chamber’s professional development is truly an investment in the City of Madison.”

Given to professionals across the country, the National Institute Scholarship recognizes each recipient for their involvement in professional organizations in the industry, community service and professional background.

“National Institute scholarships offer executives the opportunity to learn about emerging industry trends, expand their organizations’ influence and grow their peer network,” Raymond P. Towle said. Towle is vice president of Institute for Organization Management at U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “We are pleased to help these talented professionals advance their careers and organizations.”

Since its commencement in 1921, the institute program has been educating tens of thousands of association, chamber and other nonprofit leaders. The focus includes methods to build stronger organizations, better serve their members and strategies for strong business advocates.

The institute’s curriculum covers four weeklong sessions at four different university locations across the country. Participants complete a combination of required courses and electives in areas such as leadership, advocacy, marketing, finance and membership. Institute participants can enhance their own organizational management skills and add new fuel to their organizations for efficient and effective operations.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business organization, representing companies of all sizes across every sector of the economy. Members range from small businesses and local chambers of commerce to leading industry associations and large corporations.

Epling expressed heartfelt thanks to Madison Chamber of Commerce and Institute for Organizational Management for investing in professional and personal growth. She anticipates applying the knowledge and insights gained to further enhance the chamber’s impact and service to its members.

Madison Chamber of Commerce’s address is 401 Carter Drive in Madison. For more information, call 256-325-8317, or visit institute.uschamber.com.
