Elementary schools to host Open House on July 30

MADISON – Student families in all elementary schools in the Madison district can attend Open House on the same date, July 30, to get ready for the 2024-2025 school year.

Open House can answer many questions, but the best reason to attend Open House is an introduction to the child’s teacher. After talking to the teacher at Open House, a child can be ready for a good start when classes resume on Aug. 1.

Open houses for elementary school will run from 5-7 p.m.

Families will visit at scheduled times:

* Columbia Elementary School – Open House will open at 4 p.m. in the cafeteria for Kindergarten 101. The 4 p.m. time slot also is reserved for students in structured learning who will have a sensory-friendly atmosphere.

For grades K-5, students with last names A-H can attend from 5 to 6 p.m. Students with last names I-Z are welcome from 6 to 7 p.m. Teachers encourage students to bring school supplies.

* Heritage Elementary School –Students can gain a first-time experience in their new classroom and become more familiar with the setting when classes resume.

For better ‘traffic control,’ students with last names A-G will attend from 5 to 5:40 p.m., last names H-O from 5:40 to 6:20 p.m. and last names P-Z from 6:20 to 7 p.m.

* Horizon Elementary School – Students with last names A-L can visit from 5 to 5:50 p.m., followed by last names M-Z from 6 to 6:50 p.m. Families can bring donated supplies and register for Expanded Day, if needed.

Horizon families can use shuttle service available at Miller Plaza, just west of Horizon. Students can request club information and sign up for options during the first PTA meeting on Aug. 27.

* Madison Elementary School – Students with last names A-L can visit from 5 to 5:50 p.m., followed by last names M-Z from 6 to 6:50. Parents and guardians are encouraged to sign up for Madison Elementary PTA.

Bus information including vehicle nickname and route schedule will be available.

* Midtown Elementary School — Students in Midtown Kindergarten 101 will attend on July 30 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the cafeteria. Families should bring classroom supplies.

* Mill Creek Elementary School – Mill Creek will use these three time slots: students with last names A-G, 5 to 5:40 p.m.; last names H-O, 5:40 to 6:20 p.m.; and last names P-Z, 6:20 to 7 p.m. The staff will email homeroom assignments to students later.

Mill Creek PTA will host campus/building tours on July 29 for all incoming kindergartners and new students. Available tour times will be 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. Families should complete an RSVP form on Mill Creek’s website.
