Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy presents Anansi the Spider

HUNTSVILLE — Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy (FPCTA) presents its world premiere adaptation of Anansi the Spider. Embark on a vibrant jungle adventure with Anansi the Spider, a 45-minute spinning web of creativity, teamwork, wisdom, and resilience! The tall tales of this mischievous spider boast of leopards, snakes, and wild birds, all brought to life using stunning life-size puppetry and inspired storytelling. This new play celebrates and educates with African folklore, music, and dance. This original adaptation features original music concepts by Alabama A&M University’s The Bulldog Beat, devised with special guest artist and the students of Alabama A&M University, and directed by FPCTA’s Artistic Director Stephen Tyler Davis.

Anansi the Spider is part of our workforce development partnership with Alabama A&M University. Our workforce development program offers professional opportunities for students and alumni of AAMU. FPCTA’s Artistic Director, Stephen Tyler Davis, works in collaboration with Assistant Professor Jill Coon, to create curricula that combine teaching foundational skills inside the classroom and developing young artists to prepare them for their first paid contract. This partnership is a commitment to workplace development and creating the next generation of artists here in Huntsville and beyond.

FPCTA’s Theater for Young Audiences (TYA) Series productions are created with young audiences in mind, introducing them to the joys of theatre through bite-sized, yet impactful, productions that leave them wanting more! These performances are perfect for first-time theater goers or young theater enthusiasts. TYA Series is presented by First Horizon Bank.

Tickets are $12. The lobby and Box Office will open one (1) hour before performance time. Tickets can be purchased online, over the phone, or at the door. Seating begins 15 minutes before performance time. Seating is general admission.

  • Current Alabama A&M University students can redeem free tickets using code AAMUBULLDOGS. Must pick up ticket from FPCTA’s box office and present valid ID.
