Bartlett reflects on ‘First 100 Days’ for city leaders in new administration
MADISON – In her “Madison Weekly” message, Mayor Ranae Bartlett shared a list of activities that she and the current City Council have experienced, influenced or finalized during their “First 100 Days” in office.
“We have made meaningful progress for Madison. Together, we’ve strengthened public safety, supported economic growth and taken important steps to position our city for continued success,” Bartlett said.
Those actions have included opening the Training Tower and Public Safety Annex for first responders; 48-96 hour schedule for firefighters; Costco’s annexation for expanded tax revenue to benefit city services and Madison City Schools; Town Madison’s new businesses, including Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn by Marriott, Escapology escape rooms; and Ardent Preschool, along with groundbreakings for Chop House and TownePlace Suites by Marriott; and downtown’s Entertainment District. In addition, Madison City Council promoted the inaugural “Gather Madison” that Madison Visionary Partners organized; transition of the senior center’s former location to Madison Meeting Hall for civic groups; and extension of half-cent sales tax for MCS growth and academics.

The launch of the quarterly “Ask Your City” series will be conducted at the new Public Safety Annex, 230 Business Park Blvd. on Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ask Your City opens “doors to city facilities and creates space for conversation, questions and hands-on learning,” Bartlett said.
The first installment will focus on public safety and emergency preparedness. Residents can meet a cross-section of municipal personnel, including police officers, firefighters and City Council, along with employees/residents in Information Technology, Madison Police Citizens Advisory Committee, Emergency Management, Engineering and mayor’s staff.
Two guided tours of the Public Safety Annex will offer behind-thescenes views at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Outside, interactive demonstrations will include the police K-9 Unit and car seat installations.
Bartlett reminded residents to nominate companies for “Best in Business Awards.” Madison Chamber of Commerce will accept nominations through Feb. 20 in categories such as favorite restaurant, retail, healthcare and more options.
For an after-school experience, Social Explorers focus on building friendships and interactive skills. The group is open to six- through 17-year-olds. Social Explorers meet at Madison Community Center on Tuesdays through March 31 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Fee is $10. Madison Parks and Recreation Department sponsors the group.
