Vision for Madison downtown being unveiled in Wednesday public meeting

MADISON – The next chapter of Downtown Madison’s economic future is taking shape. Main Street Madison will host representatives from Main Street Alabama and the Downtown Professionals Network for a follow-up visit as part of an ongoing, comprehensive market study of the historic downtown district.

The public is invited and highly encouraged to attend a Public Vision Session on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at Madison City Hall (100 Hughes Road).

According to Main Street Madison Executive Director Jen DeLessio, Wednesday’s visit follows a successful community- wide consumer survey conducted in June, which gathered vital feedback from residents, visitors, and business owners regarding their experiences and desires for the downtown area.

Over the course of the visit, the consulting team and local stakeholders will analyze the collected data to formulate a cohesive, strategic vision for Downtown Madison’s economic development and growth.

During this session, the project team will present the key findings from the June consumer survey and facilitate a discussion on the resulting vision for the downtown district.

“The feedback we received from the community in June was incredibly insightful, and it clearly demonstrates how much people care about the future of Downtown Madison,” said Jen DeLessio, Executive Director of Main Street Madison. “This follow-up visit allows us to pair that local feedback with state and national expertise to build a vibrant, sustainable roadmap. We want everyone to come out on August 26 to see what the community built and help us shape the next steps.”

This market study is part of Main Street Madison’s ongoing efforts to enhance economic vitality, support local small businesses, and preserve the unique charm of the historic downtown area.
