Madison City Schools, Madison Academy closed Friday

Although temperatures have risen above freezing, clearing up area roads, Madison City Schools and Madison Academy will be closed Friday, as water on the roadways is expected to refreeze overnight.

Huntsville City Schools will also be closed Friday, with Madison County Schools will be delayed three hours.

Temperatures are expected to dip below 10 degrees tonight, and a hard freeze is expected to turn melting snow on and around roadways into ice.

Although many neighborhood roads are clear, there are some that the city cannot safely provide transportation, particularly on the eastern side of the city.

Schools are predicting to reopen Tuesday after the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
