Nominations open for deserving residents as Madison’s “Military Family of the Year”

MADISON – In preparing for “2026 Celebrate Madison,” Madison Chamber of Commerce has opened nominations for “Military Family of the Year.”

The top family will be announced at Celebrate Madison on Oct. 29 at Toyota Field in Town Madison. Signalink Inc. will present this award.

“Your nomination submission should highlight the commitments and accomplishments of the family as a whole and should not be focused solely on the military member,” Chamber President Michelle Epling said.

Individuals who nominate a family should consider several factors:

• Community involvement — Does the family actively participate in local events or support community initiatives in Madison? The nominating individual should highlight any leadership roles or consistent involvement that demonstrates the family’s dedication to Madison’s well-being.

• Veteran support – In what ways does the family support fellow military members, veterans or military- related organizations? The nominating individual should think about any mentorship or advocacy programs in which the nominee family is involved that focus on assisting military families.

• Morals – What type of lifestyle values does the nominee have? Does the family demonstrate cohesion? Describe how the family exemplifies strong moral values, resilience and unity, especially in the face of challenges unique to military life, such as deployments or relocations.

• Positive impact — How have the family’s actions positively influenced the Madison community, making it a better place to live? This might involve community service projects, educational contributions or other forms of civic engagement.

Nominated families must be Madison residents (live within the city limits of Madison) for consideration as Military Family of the Year.

The deadline for nominations will be Oct. 4.

To access the nomination form, visit celebratemadison.com, and scroll to the “Military Family of the Year” box to click “2026 Nominations are OPEN.” The application asks for the nominee’s contact information; military branch in which a nominee is serving; service status, which can be active duty, veteran, reserves or other option; photo of the family; and files that document the family’s commitment to the military.

Meta is the presenting sponsor for this recognition at Celebrate Madison.

Madison Chamber of Commerce’s address is 230 Hughes Road, Suite C in Madison. For questions about the application, email marketing@madisonalchamber. com. For more information, call 256-3258317, or visit madisonalchamber.com.
