Students lunch with someone they love

Jessica and Jordan Yates enjoy a slice of pizza during Lunch with Someone You Love, Tuesday, March 8.

Students at Mill Creek Elementary School got the opportunity to eat lunch with someone they love.

On Thursday, March 3 and Tuesday, March 8, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncle visited the school during lunchtime to eat and talk with their students.

“Not every parent gets the chance to come out and eat lunch with their child,” said Bessie Kent, who visited her granddaughter Victoria. “This is a really great thing.”

Kris Gray, the school’s media specialist said the day is also a way to get families to visit the school’s book fair, which runs through the end of the week.

This is the second year and fourth time the school put on the event. The next Lunch with Someone You Love will be Wednesday, March 9 for grades four through nine.

“It’s been fantastic,” Gray said. “We’ve had a very good turnout.”
