Shane Wilson to perform Saturday

Shane Wilson will perform Saturday at 16 Main Gallery.

Shane Wilson has been a singer/songwriter for as long as he can remember.

“I just never stopped,” Wilson said. “I’ve always wanted to write.”

The Madison resident will get a chance to perform his original music April 16 at 16 Main Gallery, an art gallery located in downtown Madison.

“We are excited to have Shane perform because he is a local artist performing original music which is part of the 16 Main charter, original and local,” said Andy Stewart, an artist and marketing director for 16Main. “Also, this will be our largest show to date, and we plan to have at least one performance per month.”

Wilson’s music is original, but he said it has rock roots with influences from piano to country.

“It’s not country, but it’s got a lot of country in it,” he said.

Wilson said he writes all his songs, which he feels makes him a perfect match for 16Main Gallery.

“I think that fits with what 16Main is doing and their creativity,” Wilson said.

Wilson’s creativity began in church, and continued through his high school and college days.

He attended Decatur High School, where he met his current bass player, Shawn Donahoo.

“He was my drum major in high school,” Wilson said.

The two reconnected years later, and added Clay Martin on drums to become The Shawn Wilson Trio, better known as, SWT.

They are currently independent, and Wilson said they like it that way.

They will perform Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $10, and can be purchased by calling 256-325-0161.
