Memon indicted for murder by grand jury

Hammad Memon, the 15-year-old boy accused of shooting and killing Discovery Middle School classmate Todd Brown Feb. 5 has been indicted for murder by a Madison County grand jury.

Memon

“The reason we decided to pursue the murder charge is because we felt like the act was intentional and according to the law, his age allowed us to pursue the charge,” said Assistant District Attorney Tim Gann. “That’s why we went in the direction we did.”

Gann said the next step in the process will be to assign the case to a curcuit court judge, and then that judge will decide when the case will be placed on a docket and go to trial. He said he is unsure about the time frame of when the case will go to trial.

Memon is currently out on bond.
