Hit-and-run victim dead

Rebecca Carter, the 20-year-old Fort Payne resident who was struck by a vehicle Thursday night, has died, according to a spokesperson at Huntsville Hospital.

The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m Thursday when Carter was walking from Flagstone apartments to Portal Lane. She was on her way back along the west side of Shelton Road when a vehicle traveling southbound struck her from the rear, police said.
