Madison Station Antiques auction to benefit Madison Hospital

Madison Station Antiques has scheduled a public auction of 10 items as a fundraiser to benefit Madison Hospital.

As a merchant sponsor of the new hospital, Madison Station Antiques will host the auction on Feb. 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. at 110 Main St. in Madison’s downtown historic district.

“Madison Station’s mission is to be a part of the community,” owner Ronnie Williams said. “We plan to host an event each February to give back to our home town. This year we chose Madison’s new hospital.”

Fifty percent of auction proceeds will benefit Madison Hospital. In addition, 20 percent of all sales during all of February will go to the new facility.

The auction will include a very old brass bed, circa 1850-1880, that is not lacquered and has side rails. A Victorian era dresser is made of walnut with cherry stain and has a mirror and glove boxes.

“We’ll auction a Lance Jar, used as a counter jar in a country store. It has a metal lid and dates to 1940-1950,” store manager Sharon Dinkel said.

Bidders will have a choice of five American, hand-stitched quilts, dated 1920-1940, in varied colors and patterns. A vintage water cooler/crock by Crown #2 is gray with blue stripes.

“We will have an American school desk in hardwood from the 1940-1950 era,” Dinkel said. From the same period, a student’s roll-top desk is made of oak.

A choice of five Hummels collectibles, issued to club members only, will be auctioned. A cherry, drop-leaf, gate-leg table has six legs and leaves. Circa 1940, Roseville pieces will include a vase and bookend set in Ming tree pattern.

Light refreshments will be served.

Madison Station Antiques’ address is 110 Main St. For more information, call 256-772-4444, send email to madisonstationantiques@ymail.com or visit madisonstationantiques.com or Facebook/Madison Station Antiques.
